She's made mistakes, but doesn't everyone deserve a second chance? The magical new bestseller from Irish number one bestselling author Colette Caddle

All Zoe Hall has ever wanted to do is act, then love got in the way of her dreams. But now that she has divorced her husband and come home to Dublin, she is determined to get her career back on track. It's easier said than done though and she earns just as much helping out her caterer friend, Tara Devlin, as she does from acting.

Finally she is offered a juicy part courtesy of Tara's famous actor father and heart-throb, Terence Ross. It looks like finally Zoe is going to get a chance to show off her talents - or is she?

At a time when she should be concentrating solely on her acting role, Zoe finds herself drawn deep into the lives, loves and heartaches of the people around her, not least that of her beloved brother, Shane. Consumed by her need to help, Zoe is in grave danger of missing out on her second chance, a chance that may also be her last…

A Summer Breeze follows the lives of a variety of characters, and switches between them fairly regularly. As a result the initial chapters take a bit of getting into, as you are needing to learn about a whole host of people, in small segments.

Once the book gets going however, and you know who is who, it is a very good book, that I really enjoyed.

There is Zoe Hall, who is an aspiring actress, who is divorced from Ed, who was an actor and jealous of his wife's talent. Shane Hall is Zoe's brother and is a playwright, but has deep skeletons in the closet and his was one of the most interesting and gripping stories.

Tara is Zoe's best friend, she is running a catering company, using Zoe as an occasional waitress, and is married to Greg, who has recently lost his job. Terence is Tara's father and a famous actor, who is convinced that Zoe would be the perfect actress to play the lead in his new play.

There is also Celia, the other actress in the play, who is very proud and hiding something (that the readers know about long before the other characters) and then there is Robbie the director, who is sceptical about casting Zoe, until he sees her audition.

The scenes between Terence and Zoe as they practice for her audition, so early in the book are confusing as they slip between reality and their characters in the play seamlessly. I will say the play sounds like if it was real it would be really good to watch.

Although Zoe was the main character and focus of the book, as everything seemed to affect her, I found most of the other characters more interesting, as they had various issues, whereas all she seemed to need to do was react and learn about various revelations.

I really enjoyed the writing in A Summer Breeze, and always seem to love books that are set in Ireland, although the short trip to Spain was well described too, and I could feel the heat of the Spanish climate, while they were there.

A Summer Breeze will take you on a gentle roller-coaster of emotions, and for those you need to keep your eyes on Shane, as he is key to so much, but yet I can't say anything really about him, for fear of giving something away.

A lovely and enjoyable book by Colette Caddle, and well worth a look.

Thanks to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.
