Rule number one: Keep calm and marry on…

When new mum and events planner Julia Crawford is given the opportunity to plan three weddings, she jumps at the chance. What could possibly go wrong? …

Forget bridezilla, Aimee’s future mother-in-law is the stuff of nightmares – hell bent on taking over the wedding entirely. Worse still, her fiancĂ©, Jon, seems oblivious. Aimee’s starting to wonder if she and her groom-to-be are right for each other after all…

Body shy Debbie is on a mission. She’s determined to shed a lot of pounds before the big day. As the wedding inches closer, will the new Debbie lose sight of what’s really important?

Gill loves Mike and their blended family of five kids to bits, but with a house full of teenage hormones and her eldest, Kelly, struggling with so much change, Gill is feeling the pressure...

As the women bond over cake and a cuppa, can they each resolve their wedding woes before the big day?

An uplifting, warm-hearted read packed with love, laughter and friendship. If you’re a fan of Jill Mansell, Milly Johnson or Lucy Diamond you’re in for a real treat.

If you have read Sophie Hart's previous book The Girls Guide to Falling in Love, then you will find Julia to be a slightly familiar character, but if you haven't don't worry as this is a fully standalone book. However if you have it is fantastic to catch up with a previous character, and there are also references to all the other main characters in the first book, so you get that feeling of knowing what is going on in their lives.

Julia, is a new mum to Jack, and although she wasn't planning on returning to work yet, as an events planner, when she receives and email from Valerie, wanting Julia to organize the wedding of her son Jon, to Aimee, with a huge budget, Julia can't refuse.

Aimee is n absolute darling, however her future mother-in-law is the sort of woman who only cares about stature, reputation and appearances, and her son isn't much better. They seem to treat Aimee like part of the hired help, and she seems to be getting no say in her own wedding.

Then there is Debbie, who is desperately unhappy with her current body shape and vows to drop a few dress sizes between now and her wedding. Julia has also agreed to help plan this wedding, and thanks to Debbie, she also meets Gill.

Gill and her fiancee Mike are looking to make their blended family official. With five kids, life is manic, and some of the children are happier than others at the prospect of this wedding. In steps Julia and with the children's help they produce an unforgettable reception for Gill and Mike.

As you can imagine with the amount of work Julia has agreed to do, her own relationship with Nick becomes slightly strained, especially with a young baby too, but they are determined that nothing will get in their way.

I loved all the brides in this book, in fact I loved all the characters with the exception of Valerie and Jon. Each chapter focuses on a different of the women, although as the book progresses, and there is more overlap in the women's lives, the chapters become slightly more general. You get a great feel for all the stories, although I felt that Gill's story was marginally neglected compared with the others.

The Girl's Guide to Getting Hitched is yet another fantastic book by Sophie Hart, an author who is very fast becoming a firm favourite of mine. This is a warm-hearted, uplifting story, filled with wedding planning, families of all shapes and sizes, a weight loss campaign, and a wedding where the bride and groom seem to come from completely different worlds. It is a fun and entertaining story, and very enjoyable and more-ish. I kept turning the pages and was disappointed when it ended as I was loving the various threads of the story.

Thank you to Bookoutre and Netgalley for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.

Happy Publication day to Sophie Hart. The Girl's Guide to Getting Hitched is out today in ebook!
